When it comes Xavier University, the mission statement is one that everyone can understand and demonstrate. Since the key idea that Xavier promotes is creating a more just, humane society, getting our voices and ideas to be heard would more than exemplify our mission statement.

One way to be heard is to get involved in activites and organizations that you feel you can represent. For example, clubs and organizations such as the NAACP and UNCF, support African Americans and getting an education, as we all do. By joining such organizations you can help promote education as well, which would further support the mission statment as well as let your vioce be heard.

I feel that your vioce can be heard louder through your actions. Getting involved in the problems that affect society such as breast cancer, heart disease and especially AIDS, further demonstrates the mission, your vioce and benefits everybody’s world.

When it comes to the Beyond Jena issue, I feel that by understanding our mission we can understand how we can contribute and help. Within our mission statement, the main goal is create a more just and humane society. How we contribute could be through teaching, service or even just listening to the children and poeple of the communities in which such unjust problems can occur.  By doing so we further invest in the mission statement in which we have chosen to live by, by becoming an exceptional leader and by giving back to the society through service.
